Jesus took a sip of the lukewarm water that flowed through the aqueduct into Laodicea. He spat it out. “Yuk! This is lukewarm! I hate lukewarm.”
He looked around the church. “Are you lukewarm?”
He prodded one, then another.
“You think you are rich, but you’re poor. You might look good, but you have watered down the truth. It started off well when you tried to open the doors to non-believers, but you tried too hard to make the Gospel acceptable to them. You made my Church into an entertainment palace where people came to be fed what they wanted and not what they needed. You moved away from Biblical teaching and strayed to teaching psychological concepts from the successful business world. You think you have it all, but you have nothing spiritually.
Let me in. I’m knocking at the door. If you open up, I will come in and eat with you.”
