I feel sorry for Leah. Watching a romance develop under her nose for seven years could not have been fun. Becoming the wife of her sister’s chosen husband must have been awkward at least, and comments in the Bible make it clear that she felt unloved.
Yet, she had six sons and a daughter, and she could also have had a hand in raising Joseph (since his mother died) and also had a son called Judah who was in the family line of Jesus. (Mat: 1)
Mind you, family living was not peaceful. Sons Simeon and Levi killed a lot of people in revenge for ill treatment of their sister – before we even begin to look at how the brothers dealt with Joseph! (Gen 34)
Leah seems to me, to be a woman with an unusually large amount of trouble in her life.
